When we designed the backs of our Memory cards, the challenge was to find ornaments that could be repeated to all four sides to make a large square and that did not show any differences between the individual cards when the square was then cut into pieces.
After our first attempts to find a suitable motif we learned whether the square itself or the edges had to be altered to give us identical cards, which is important for playing Memory. Lots of ideas were produced and all of us came up with several suggestions for incredibly creative or geometrical patterns.
We finally agreed on the following suggestion, as it fulfills the conditions mentioned above and also is a fairly complicated pattern especially suited to this game. If you want, you may copy these sheets onto the backs of your Memory sheets and then cut it into 6cm squares. (Try to be as meticulous as possible!)
