After leaving Palazzo Crivelli, on your right hand you find Brera street. Walking in the direction of the centre of the town, you can see the stately building of Brera, one of he most ancient and magnificent buildings of Milan, seat of the Academy of Art, the Picture-Gallery, the National Library, the Astronomic Observatory and of the Botanical Gardens.

"...Later on  Francesco Maria Ricchino was in charge of the restructure of Brera which was supposed to take to the realisation of a new magnificent building. The execution of the project began on 1651 and was carried on by Ricchino's son Giandomenico and the architects   Girolamo Quadrio and Pietro Giorgio Rossone".

After 1772 Brera had a new lay destination, the completion of which was entrusted to architect Piermarini(1774), who added the solemn entrance.
