1926
Red chalk on light gray tinted paper
Museum Schloss Bruck
This picture was created in 1926, the year of his death and is a part of the Egger -
Lienz Gallery. Amongst other prints (spinning wheel, drummer, studies for important
paintings, etc.) this picture is exhibited in one of the showcases. Egger paints himself
looking serious, his facial expression seems to be tired and thoughtful.
The style of this portrait shows his usual fondness for simplification, not focusing on
details. Nevertheless, you can easily notice the typical traits of a portrait (but reduced
to the essentials).
