Ernst Diez

1878 born in Lölling/Karnten ( Corinthia)
1902 graduated with his doctorate from the History of Art Institute in Vienna
1903-1904 scientific research in Rome & Istanbul
1908-1911 scientific assistant, amongst others, in Friedlander in Berlin
1912-1914 educational trips to Persia, India, Egypt and Anatolia in Turkey
1924 appointed as associate professor at Vienna University
1926 called to the USA, educational trips to China, Japan, India and Java
1939 returned to Vienna
1943 invited to Turkey to found the History of Art Institute at Ankara University
1949 came back to Vienna
1959 participated as the honoured guest of the Turkish Republic at the 1st International Congress for Turkish Art in Ankara
1961 died in Vienna
