| Dream Time Designed by: Claudia Dlapa, 5A |
For the Aborigines the dream-time is an equivalent of Creation. It is a symbolic vision of any form of life and thus seen as a system, where all individual parts dovetail. In such a way a complex array of connections exist, inaugurated by the forefathers at the beginning of time. In the beginning the world was a faceless plane or watersurface. Out of this nothingness the creation-ancesters (for instance the rainbow-serpent), came out of heaven or out of the ocean, and sculpted the world the way we know it today. By the use of certain ceremonies like the walkabout the Aborigines can put themselves into the mythical sphere of their forefathers and can establish spiritual connectedness to Dreamtime. |
