Interview mit einer Studentin aus England

Interview with Ms. Joanna Wyatt about Gustav Klimt "The Kiss" and Egon Schiele "Death and the Girl"

1.)Did you ever actually go to see the two paintings connected with our project at the Belvedere?

I saw the two paintings when I was here two years ago. I can remember The Kiss, because everybody knows it, and I have seen the other one, but I know quite a lot of Schiele pictures, so I cannot remember which this particular one is.

2.)Do you like this style of painting?

I like especially The Kiss, because it is unusual. I like the different colours and the way in which the proportion of the people, and things like that are not normaly shown. Such things interrest me more, than the ordinary.

3.)Is there any kind of art you like best?

I like a lot of sculptures, and I like a lot of paintings, but it does not depend so much on what form it comes from. It is the same with the pictures. I like Klimt, because he is different, has new ideas, and new prospectives. I enjoy, if I can stand in front of a picture in which is so much to see, that you can look at it for hours and still have not seen everything.

4.)Which people can you associate with the two paintings?

I would associate both of them with younger people, because there are a lot of so youthful feelings in the paintings. I would not associate them with any particular person.

5.)Did you do any projects on computers like this at your school?

We only did a little bit of work on them, because they were quite new. It was just basic work like programming, and basic commands on computers. Later on we used them with language teaching quite a lot.

6.)Do you like this kind of work with computers?

Yes. I would not use it the whole time, but I think it is good, because computers are so important nowadays, and you should be up to know how to use them.

7.)Have you ever done anything with the computers at our school?

No, I have not. I do not even know, where the computers are.

8.)Do you know anything about the way The Kiss was painted?

I am sure I have heard about it, but I cannot remember at all.

9.)If you were a painter would you paint in the style of Klimt or Schiele or would you choose something completly different?

I do actually draw quite a lot anyway. My style is more like that of Schiele, not so much of detail, more basic lines, and mostly big bold stuff.

10.)Which colours do you prefer?

I think I prefer strong colours. I do not like pink or wishy-washy ones. I like bold, different, and not ordinary colours, but still colours in connection with real life.

11.)Are there any other Austrian artists you like?

This is difficult, because I never actually know where anybody comes from. I am sure I do, but I do not know who they are.

12.)Do you have museums with German or Austrian painters in Great Britain?

Yes, especially in London, there is absolutely everything. There is a lot of influence in England from other countries.
